Welcome to the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees! Our mission is to partner with the North Carolina General Assembly, the Plan’s Board of Trustees and other key stakeholders to provide quality health care products and services for the health and wellbeing of Plan members.

More than 662,000 state employees, teachers, retirees, current and former lawmakers, state university and community college personnel, state hospital staff and their dependents are insured by the State Health Plan.

Through healthy living initiatives, such as NC HealthSmart, the State Health Plan seeks to empower members to make healthier lifestyle choices and to become partners in addressing their health care needs.
