Dr. McKethan is Visiting Scholar in Health Policy at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. His areas of expertise include provider payment, delivery system reform, and health information technology. Before joining Duke, Aaron was co-founder and President of RxAnte, a health care predictive analytics company. Dr. McKethan was previously Director of the Beacon Community program, a large multi-year federal health IT demonstration program at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT in Washington, D.C. The Beacon Communities tested new innovations in health IT and delivery system change for cost reduction and quality improvement. 

Dr. McKethan also served as a Research Director for the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution in Washington, where he focused on the design and evaluation of new “accountable care” provider payment models designed to lower per-capita costs and improve healthcare outcomes. Dr. McKethan earned Bachelor of Arts and Ph.D. degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is currently Assistant Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Gillings School of Global Public Health.

His published work has appeared in such publications as the Journal of the American Medical Association, New England Journal of Medicine, and Health Affairs.
