Tobacco claims the lives of approximately 14,200 North Carolinians each year. The third Thursday of every November marks the Great American Smokeout. This is a day nationally designated to encourage tobacco users to make a plan to quit or quit that day. By quitting, even for one day, smokers take an important step toward better health. It’s never too late to quit!
As a State Health Plan member, you have access to a variety of tobacco cessation resources to help you quit smoking, chewing tobacco, using snuff, or even e-cigarettes (vaping). For details, visit the Plan’s Your Health and Wellness Resources site. For more information about the Great American Smokeout, visit the American Cancer Society website.
