UnitedHealthcare Network Coverage Update

Some members under the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Group Medicare Advantage plans have received letters from hospitals stating they may no longer be in-network with UHC. While it is true that UHC may be out-of-network for these hospitals, State Health Plan members are still able to receive services from them and their employed physicians at no additional cost.
 

Tobacco Attestation Premium Credit Reminder

Subscribers who completed the tobacco attestation during 2019 Open Enrollment and said they were willing to participate in a tobacco cessation counseling session must visit a CVS MinuteClinic for a least one tobacco cessation counseling session before January 31, 2019, or risk losing the premium credit.

 

State Health Plan Board of Trustees Next Meeting Dec. 10

The next meeting of the State Health Plan Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, December 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Board will meet at the Department of State Treasurer offices, Dogwood Conference Room, First Floor, 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, N.C., 27604.

 

 

Quit It! Great American Smokeout is November 15

Tobacco claims the lives of approximately 14,200 North Carolinians each year. The third Thursday of every November marks the Great American Smokeout. By quitting, even for one day, smokers take an important step toward better health. It’s never too late to quit!

State Health Plan Board of Trustees Unanimously Supports Provider Reimbursement Initiative that Lowers Health Care Costs

State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, announced today that the State Health Plan Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution favoring a new provider reimbursement strategy for North Carolina providers that care for Plan members.

The provider reimbursement strategy, to go into effect January 1, 2020, will move the Plan away from a commercial-based payment model to a reference-based government pricing model based on a percentage of publicly available Medicare rates, according to the resolution passed today. This effort is aimed to keep rising health care costs under control while promoting quality care, transparency and affordability.

State Health Plan Launches New Provider Reimbursement Effort

State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA announced today that the State Health Plan (Plan) will launch a new medical reimbursement strategy for North Carolina providers that care for Plan members. This effort is part of a longer term strategy to take advantage of the Plan’s “largeness” to keep rising health care costs under control while promoting quality care, transparency and affordability.
